Welcome to the ILAB Stolen Book Database. The League and its national associations has a long history of preventing book theft and of catching book thieves, both at national and international level. This also applies to stolen maps as well as documents, manuscripts and other related material. We work closely with booksellers, libraries, museums, the police, national governments and other interested bodies. Our intention is that thieves will have nowhere to dispose of their ill gotten goods.

The ILAB Stolen Books Database is for books reported stolen after 15th June 2010. Books reported before this date are, for technical reasons, listed with minimal detail. For fuller information about these items please contact your local ILAB dealer or National Association or ILAB direct. On www.stolen-book.org you can check if a book that you have been offered has been reported as stolen. On the site you can also report items that have been stolen. With authorised login you can see additional layers of details. Items that have been reported as stolen are monitored and if you are a thief using this site you need to be aware that you won't have access to additional levels of security so you cannot be sure what other stolen articles have been reported as stolen. We would recommend not stealing books in the first place. Our record in assisting the arrests and convictions of book thieves around the World is considerable.
